I have recently played ToME and its 2 DLCs for about 100 hours until I finally beat it and I enjoyed it A LOT. Hey! I'm pretty new to roguelikes and roguelites in general. Roguelike Radio podcast for all things roguelike-y.

Warrior's not too hard to play decently, but if you learn how to play it well, it's a lot of fun and can actually deal a significant amount of damage.Whether it's ADOM, IVAN or (arguably) Dwarf Fortress, let's talk about it! For secondary stats, you want enough Skill Speed to do the 3x Fell Cleave combo in Berserk, then go for Crit Rate and Det. Statwise, you should put all your attribute points into Strength, and run 2-3 Strength accessories on your right side. Aside from that, you can maybe make a case for Featherfoot or Mantra, but you're better off using those cross-class slots for the GLD skills. Internal Release is definitely worth taking from Pugilist, because MORE CRITS.

Aside from that, Convalescence and a Awareness are both great, with Flash being somewhat useful for aggro management when you don't want to spend that 140 TP for Overpower, and get use out of that otherwise full MP bar. It's more or less impossible to complete many encounters without it. From Gladiator, you absolutely NEED Provoke. Warriors can cross-class from Gladiator and Pugilist. Fortunately though, Equilibrium and (if you've got one) NIN/BRD/MCH's TP regeneration skills help deal with this quite a bit. As a Warrior you only use TP, unlike DRK and PLD, so you can occasionally run into issues with running out of TP on longer encounters. You build up Wrath/Abandon stacks with a lot of your skills, and once you stack up 5 you can spend them to use certain skills, depending on whether or not you're in Defiance (tank stance) or Deliverance (dps stance). Warrior has the highest damage and raw HP of the three tanks, but the lowest hard mitigation (still definitely enough to MT most encounters, though). I main Warrior and would definitely recommend it, it's a fun class that can actually hit pretty hard (triple Fell Cleave during Berserk, <3). The only three things you have to keep up normally are Maim, Storm's Eye, and Fracture, all of which last a good little while each time you apply them. I've not done much with PLD and DRK (both below 40), but I can definitely talk about WAR. While I (like many it seems) expected a bit more from the rewards, the actual mode itself is fun, and definitely a more challenging experience. Lots of items have been removed or moved, most notably the IAGO invitation in the bathroom and the fireworks remote (couldn't find it, but there's still challenges associated so I'll have to poke around some more) AI seem to be much more aware of you running about, so sneak running is much less safe. Loads of items are marked as an illegal or "suspicious item" depending on your disguise, and make sense (Silverballer is an illegal item as any guard, but their regular pistols/rifles aren't, most throwables are suspicious). Just shooting them out doesn't seem as safe as on normal either. It feels great that cameras actually matter now, they can spot you like npcs do in areas where you're trespassing and will alert a guard nearby to your presence. A lot of the usual spots for quick/easy disguises have had cameras and/or extra npcs added to them (they gave that poor lonely staff in that big room on the second floor a security guard to keep him company, there's a camera above the basement entrance where the two waiters talk about the drink for Novikov, and they both go inside now, camera round the back area next to the shed).
